The Design Eye
In January of 2025 I was selected by a panel of Drexel GD faculty to design the brand for the summer 2025 senior show. over the next 6 months I worked closely with professor Eric Karnes to create an exciting visual language for the event. I created a unique style which we applied to all elements of the show, including event posters and signage, pins, tote bags, student banners, and a 50 foot mural installation.
Starting with the poster was important to the process. Using the poster as the backbone of the brand I wanted to capture the essence of what design school has meant to me. How it feels to design. The grit and colors are drawn from the surroundings of Philadelphia. The type is Degular at various weights for its sturdy but unique shapes and a complimentary script.
The core of the brand though are these gritty bitmaps of eyes. The images are photographs of my classmates, showcasing the whole reason to go to a design school; to train our “design eye.”
The booklet was a important piece of the show for us as students. This was an opportunity for students to has guests find out a little more about each designer individually. each student got a small bio with a photo of themselves and a link to their website/socials.
